Just a quick note that I’m approving all comments for the next few hours as I’ve been getting some spam. I deleted a bunch this morning, attended a couple of meetings, then when I returned to my computer, the same person posted the same messages again.
If any of you can point me to a Wordpress plug-in that I can install to help manage spam comments, do let me know. As soon as I install it, I’ll turn off the moderation so you can freely dialogue with each other sans my intervention.

You need to activate the Akismet spam filter. I think it should be one of your included plugins in WordPress. To get the plugin working, though, you also need to provide an API key (five digits, I think?). To obtain that API, you can sign up for a separate, free WordPress.com account at: http://wordpress.com/signup/.
Akismet works absolutely beautifully. Read my blog post on it from a few months back: http://www.bryper.com/2006/06/12/shutting-down-commenting-spam/
Drop me a line if you still have questions, Leesa.

It’s working. Akismet caught 8 spam comments and I was able to see the report when I logged into Wordpress this morning. Awesome tool.

Askimet is the killer app in catching commenting spam. It’s the first plugin to have for WP.
